Report - Turkish National Golfer Fahrettin KOK 12.03.2011

Some said ‘He can’t be anything’ Other said ‘This kid was born to golf’. His personality and by day by increasing performance from his words Turkish sportman Fahrettin KOK.

	FIRST DAY My father and brother were working gor National Golf Club. I was working as a caddie on my off school days to earn some extra money. This was my first experience in golf. Before I just heard about golf through people. I was watching good players and this made me want to play like them. At this time they didn’t allow us to play golf on the course so I was practicing trees and hidden corners until I went home. TURNING POINT Cornelia golf club decided to hold a Faldo Series Golf Tournament in 2008 and my coach Bekir Kara told me and his brother to go and attend and enjoy the game. I achieved first place on day one with another golfer. We were shokked and couldn’t believe it. Ultimately I become champion of the tournament after three days winning by fifteen shots. This victory took met o Brazil for a bigger challenge and this was my first biggest step into golf. If that tournament had,nt exýsted I may be stil doing my caddyýng job.
	FIRST BIG TOURNAMENT The Turkish Amateur Open were celebrating their 10 th anniversary three years ago and I played in the event. This was my biggest tournament and felt quite nervous playing and trying to beat golfers from all around the world. I played well the first two rounds but my last two rounds were not so good. I really wanted to win the cup as a Tukish National golfer
	EXCITEMENT President of National Golf Club Bulent Goktuna and my coach Bekir Kara helped and supported me a lot and my family were always behind me. I was winning and this gave me more confidence and consequently I was practicing more and more.
	CONCENTRATION I wasn’t always getting good results. I was good in technique but when things were getting diffucult on the course I was loseing my focus. I started to learn how to improve my concentration and relax during the game and this helped my results.
	SUPRISING I think my friends in Istanbul are suprised at how far I have improved and progressed in a short space of time.
	TURKISH GOLF LEAGUE I achieved two second places and a win in the Leaque this year and these results have given me the chance to play in the Spanish Amateur Open. It would be great to bring a victory to Turkey.
	THIS YEAR I wan’t to improve and Lower my handicap. I have my own trainnig program. I am running 45 minutes in the morning  followed by stretching and fitness and short game practice for 2 hours. In the afternoon I will work on my long game finishing my day with 9 holes. I am reading a book a week and working hard to improve my English.
	FUTURE I love golf and after I graduate I want to study abroard and become a touring Professional golfer and live my life this way.
